Justin Brow, from Bellingen Bixey Fixey Upperers (BBFU), would like to throw out a challenge for bike “repairers” willing to lend a community support hand to come along to their regular drop in, first Saturday of each month @ Amelia Franklin Café 10 am – 2 pm. Here they attempt to fix much loved and revered bicycles as well as engage with local cyclists. This Saturday 7th April it is on again – and Justin would love to see you come along (with or without tools).
You can contact Justin on 0413 411 744 or through his email at justin@60sox.org Justin says “I’d welcome anyone interested in getting involved to contact me and we can have a chat. It’s a pretty fluid arrangement we’ve got – we just arrive at Amelia’s just before 10am on the first Sat of the month and fix up bikes as they come through. We have a growing stable of tools and parts which are funded through donations, but if people can bring their own, then that’s all the better. “
Bellingen Shire has details at http://www.ilovebelloshire.com/event/bikey-fixey-bellingen/2019-12-07/ “It is a totally free service which we provide to the community just so we can help people fix their treddlies. (Although, we do accept donations to help buy parts. We do not pocket any donations ourselves).”
“It is a really good feeling watching people ride off with big smiles after we’ve given their pushies some love and we can always use some extra hands.”
This seems a welcome initiative and a wonderful way to spread the word about DUBBUG. It would be great if a few club members can make it along this Saturday, even if just to enjoy a coffee and see what it is all about. Amelia Franklin Café is the old service station located in the middle of Bellingen.
