Sunday 28th June Ride Report: Adam’s Sawmill via Yellow Rock and out to North Beach Good turnout today with around fifteen or so riders heading out to Adam’s Sawmill via Yellow Rock under cloudy winter skies. The conditions were cool but fine, and the roads were quiet all the way out. Yellow Rock did what it always does — flat, scenic, easy riding with good views across the valley to the ranges. A solid reason to come this way. Always. Up to Adam’s sawmill and the end of the sealed road and to the group splitting. Half headed back to North Beach on sealed roads. The other half took the gravel, which wound through the genuinely stunning tall eucalypt forest of the Bongil Bongil NP. This is the kind of track that look great in photos and feel even better to ride. There is less gravel now that more of the route is sealed, and it’s pretty smooth rolling but with the recent rain certainly resulted in plenty of mud about. Nothing wrong with a bit of grit being flung in your face, right? Everyone made it to North Beach General Store for coffee and snacks in good spirits. For the gravel group, the bike cleaning situation at home is likely another matter. Special mention to anyone running a white bike with white shoe on a day like today. You know who you are. Great ride. The valley views, the forest tracks, and the overcast light made for a beautiful

Winter Solstice ride to Bellingen Sunday 21 June 2026 Around 20 riders made their way to Bellingen today for what turned out to be a pretty special winter’s day on the bike. The day started chilly but warmed into an incredible, clear, still day. The main group headed out via South Arm, while others took their own way – solo rides on alternate routes (maybe every possible route to Bello was covered off 🤷‍♀️), but we all found our way to the same location. The roads through the hinterland were in good condition and the forest sections were particularly nice in the winter light. The Butter Factory at Bello was the chosen destination for our mid ride break. With so many of us spilling over three tables the poor cafe staff had difficulties getting the right food and coffee combination to each rider. Scones with cream, cake and fruit toast with equal measures of chit chat about who’d taken which route and what the roads were like. Given it was the shortest day of the year, there seemed to be a particular hurry to get back on the bike. This did not translate into a rush home though. The main group of riders headed back along North Bank with a few heading along beautiful Hyde’s Creek road, splitting off via Valery and North Beach or back via Bonville. Many tacked on a few extra kilometres because the weather was just too good to cut things short. Hard to argue with

A touch over a bakers dozen headed from Urunga to Sawtell Velodrome this morning followed by a peaceful cake and coffee (and chai for some) at Link Cafe.

Meanwhile a couple of hardy souls went out for a rural ride through Karangi and Dairyville with their own picnic at Karangi on return.

Meanwhile several non-attendees on the organised rides passed each other around beautiful Yellow Rock and enjoyed cake and coffee (and chai) at Anchors Wharf.

There’s always a great ride and great company riding with DUBBUG. Next weekend we head to Bello. Check out our website www.dubbug.org if you’d like to join in on the fun.
