Eight enthusiastic(?) riders congregated at the BP servo North Urunga for a moderately easy ride to Coffs to explore some of Coffs cycleways. With the evidence of early morning showers still around and a cloudy sky, we hoped for the best weather wise and headed north to Waterfall Way, Perrys Hill then the new highway to Lyons road to join the first bike path of the ride.
The group managed to navigate the highway cycleway, Stadium drive, Hogbin Drive cycleway and arrive at Albany Street still with the complete bunch intact,.a much better result than the last ride I lead through Coffs!
We head down Albany St, through Coffs town centre, west along High St then around back streets behind Narranga school until we reach Donn Patterson Drive and head towards Bray street.
A DUBBUG ride wouldn’t be complete without a flat tire, this time the unlucky rider was Leigh, getting a puncture near Baringa hospital. The front couple of riders, oblivious to Leigh’s dilemma continued on to Home Base for coffee. Having fixed Leigh’s flat the remnants of the group arrive for coffee.
While preparing for the next part of today’s adventure, Leigh’s back is giving him some grief so Leigh and Margie decide to head straight back to Urunga. The remaining riders head along Arthur Street, Ocean Parade then around the jetty foreshores. A short steep climb up Camperdown street then around Beacon Hill bike path, Howard Street then Hogbin Drive cycleway to Toormina.
The last part of the homeward journey was via Lady Belmore Drive, Bruce King Drive, cyleway to Lyons Rd then the new highway back to Urunga
Next week’s ride is an easy 40 Kms ride from Urunga, Yellow Rock Road then Valla Beach via Hungry Head. Contact Colleen on 0417 919 147 for more details.
