Our riding begins on a good hardpack track along the side of a quiet road near the village of Phong Hai. Uncle John & Kirk kept the local school entertained … “Aussie, Aussie, Aussie”. We climbed gently before descending steeply to the small village of Coc Ly in very hot & humid conditions. A boat trip followed on the Chay River – a beautiful river with a stunning mountain gorge. Lunch was in a local restaurant in which a few of us managed to catch the dreaded lurgy – lucky for raspberry cordial. A ride on riverbank singletrack and an alpine road climb to the quiet town of Bac Ha.
