DUBBUG Ride Report 31 March 2013
With family ties pulling riders away from the Mid North Coast to every corner of Australia numbers were down for this week’s 78 km cycle from Nambucca to Stuarts Point and return.
Many people use Easter as a time of excessive consumption. For Herb, Phil, Mike and Colleen production was the aim of the day. Tim and Dave’s excessive consumption the previous night ensured they lasted only as far as Macksville before heading home again suffering all the way.
In mild autumn weather and with a light land breeze cycling conditions were near perfect. The kilometers along a quiet Pacific Hwy clicked past without incident with Herb on his heavy steel stead keeping pace behind the younger riders.
A coffee break in Stuarts Point allowed Deb and Sally to join the group with an exchange student from Germany. They camped the night there and were riding home to Nambucca and Valla with their bikes loaded with gear. The steep hills between Grassy Head and Scotts Head must have been a real challenge, which they took cheerfully in their stride.
Mike and Colleen turned right at Scotts Head Rd to return home while the others turned left to continue to Nambucca after another refreshment pause in Macksville.
