Raleigh Bridge Roadworks Update

The upgrades work on the Raleigh Bridge is about to commence.  Thankfully our submissions to the RMS has made a difference identifying just how popular the bridge is for cyclists.  Accordingly, the RMS has released revised plans to allow pedestrians and cyclists to access the bridge via a temporary walkway to be built from 25 June to mid July.  During the period the walkway is being constructed (a period of 2 to 3 weeks), the bridge will not be open.

The work currently being carried out on the M1 is not related to increasing the shoulders for cyclists, it is merely to resurface.  Accordingly, please take extreme care when using the motorway as there will be no other alternative during the period the temporary walkway is being constructed.
