In Support of Palu

In September 2015, members of DUBBUG cycled across the province of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, as part of a small organised tour group along with other cyclists from around the world.  The starting point for our journey was Palu, the capital of the province.  We have learnt that on Friday, Palu has been devastated with a 3m Tsunami after a 7.5 magnitude earthquake nearby with huge loss of life.  Some of the horrific damage, many of us can relate to and is a reminder just how lucky we are to live where we do.

You can read about our travels at an earlier blog by clicking here.

On our trip, the first night was at the Swiss-Belhotel Palu, literally right over the beach.  We rose early and cycled around the beach edge of Palu for about 20 km, before turning inland and climbing up over the mountain range.  You can see photos taken as we arrived in Palu & then us starting out early the next day by clicking here.

As early reports are recorded on social media, some of our photos can be compared,  showing how much devastation has occurred.  Our thoughts & prayers are with the people of Sulawesi, they were always so kind to us. The DUBBUG website features a photograph – just a glimpse of the many Indonesians who touched us with their friendliness and smiles on this trip.
