DUBBUG REPORT 30.03.14

DUBBUG Mylestom 20140330It was very encouraging for the twelve riders to set off in fine conditions, after the week of showers. The route was an adaptation from the Weekday Ride Calendar. We covered 50 kilometres and took in some beautiful local scenery, through the dappled forest roads of Pine Creek State Forest and up the old Pacific Highway through Bonville to the Lyons Road interchange. On our return journey the views of the Bellinger River from Perry’s Hill rekindled our spirits, particularly as it was a break after a fast segment of the ride. It was chance to catch up with some fellow riders we haven’t seen for too long, while the sprinters regained their composure. In fact one such energetic soul is in Accident and Emergency, as I type this report! Off we cruised to another beautiful spot, North Beach. After observing our Surf Guards attempting to launch their IRB in the shore dump, we called into the Coffee Shop for our compulsory refuelling. Views of the tidal pool framed by Picket Hill (looming 375 metres above sea level) to the South and the Great Dividing Range to the west, relaxed us, readying our energy levels, for our return leg.

Next week (06.04.14) we have two starting times and locations from which to choose: Urunga BP at 8 or McDonalds South, Coffs Harbour at 9, for our quite challenging ‘Bucca T Ride’, via Bruxner Park.
